In Memoriam: John Cox

It is with deep regret that we report the death of NLI trustee John Cox (pictured, right, with Don Slocum) in December 2007. John was a graduate of Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland (Class 9) and served on NLI's board of trustees from 2003 until his death.

John exemplified the engaged citizenship that NLI works to promote. In addition to his board work for NLI, he also served on the boards of the Ohio City Near West Development Corporation, the Cuyahoga River Remedial Action Plan, and the West Village Council for the Cleveland Community-Building Initiative. He volunteered as a tutor at Marion Sterling Elementary School and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Vincent Charity Hospital.

While he had an impressive list of accomplishments and credentials, we will remember John for his genial personality, his wide-ranging interests, and his ability to get along with people of all backgrounds. His example will continue to inspire us in our work.
