The Mt. Pleasant Comprehensive Community Revitalization Plan calls for a strategy to "support and strengthen leadership development and capacity-building training programs."

To support this strategy, the Neighborhood Leadership Institute (NLI), in partnership with the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone, Inc., conducts a 15-week leadership training course for people who live and work in Mt. Pleasant. The course includes curriculum elements drawn from NLI’s other leadership development programs and modified to focus on the specific needs of the Mt. Pleasant community.
