New Community Book Club Offering

We have another Community Book Club offering for you!

NLI's Community Book Club returns in November. We'll be reading and discussing Born in Flames: The Business of Arson and the Remaking of the American City by Bench Ansfield.

For this edition of the Community Book Club, we'll return to convening virtually for all sessions. We will begin on November 3rd and meet each Tuesday in November on Zoom at 7:00 PM. Full details can be found via the link below.

Since 2020, over 800 participants have gathered with us to read and discuss important books on social justice and race. We invite you to join us and are proud to offer this book as our 30th installment of the Community Book Club. Click below to register for this free activity.

Join us for the All-Star Appreciation Event on November 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Neighborhood Leadership Institute (NLI), 5246 Broadway Avenue , as we celebrate the people and programs making a meaningful difference in our communities. This special evening will bring together all NLI departments to showcase their work and recognize the volunteers, participants, partners, and supporters who help bring our mission to life. Each department will share an overview of its programs, highlight accomplishments, and lift up personal stories that demonstrate how this work is not simply changing programs—it is changing lives, families, neighborhoods, and futures.

At its heart, the All-Star Appreciation Event is about celebrating everyone who contributes to NLI’s impact . Through recognition, storytelling, and connection, guests will experience the breadth of our work and the shared commitment that brings it all together. We will celebrate the individuals who show up when they are needed, the volunteers who give their time and talents, the participants who choose growth and leadership, and the community partners who believe that stronger communities begin with empowered people. Every person has a story, every contribution matters, and every act of service helps create a ripple of change that reaches far beyond the walls of NLI.

This evening is more than an appreciation event—it is a moment to pause, reflect, and remember why we do what we do. It is an opportunity to look into the faces of the people who have carried the vision forward and say, “Thank you. We see you. We value you. Your work matters.” Together, we will honor the challenges we have overcome, the victories we have achieved, and the lives that have been touched along the way. The evening will conclude with a celebratory gathering honoring our collective achievements and the extraordinary people behind them, with entertainment details to be announced. Because when we invest in people, develop leaders, and transform communities, we don't just create programs—we create a legacy.

We a re officially recruiting Activity Instructors for the 2026–2027 Schools as Neighborhood Resources (SNR) season!

Please help us get the word out by sharing the attached flyer throughout your networks, with community partners, and with anyone you think may be a good fit for SNR.

We are looking for instructors in a variety of areas, including sports and recreation, arts and creativity, health and wellness, business and entrepreneurship, education and life skills, and more.

The upcoming SNR season will run November 9, 2026 through March 29, 2027 , with programming on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00–8:00 PM .

The Youth Leadership Cleveland (YLC) Final Culmination Ceremony took place on May 30, 2026. At this ceremony, we celebrated the leadership, growth, dedication, creativity, service, and accomplishments of the 65 YLC students that participated in this program. This special occasion recognized the hard work and commitment of our youth as they showcase leadership projects, portfolios, service learning experiences, advocacy work, and personal growth developed throughout
