At Neighborhood Leadership Institute, we believe that leadership begins at the community level. Our Leadership Development programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to drive positive change in their neighborhoods. Central to this mission is our flagship program:

Leadership from the Ground Up

Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland (NLC)

Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland is a 16-week training program for emerging and established community leaders. In partnership with Cleveland State University’s Levin College, NLC helps participants build confidence, sharpen skills, and connect across neighborhoods.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Leadership development & coaching
  • Neighborhood tours & group projects
  • Tools for organizing, advocacy, and collaboration
  • A powerful network of 1,500+ alumni

When: January–June | Thursday evenings | In-person & virtual

Reading for Reflection and Social Change

Community Book Club

Launched in 2020, NLI’s Community Book Club has welcomed over 600 participants into meaningful conversations about race, equity, and justice — one book at a time.

Topics Include:

  • Understanding child behavior and communication
  • Media and technology boundaries
  • Emotional regulation and creating structure
